Marvel’s monster mash is stirring again. After a stretch where the supernatural corner of the MCU went quiet, the studio is moving a follow up to ‘Werewolf By Night’ into gear with Michael Giacchino returning to direct. Trade chatter around the composer turned filmmaker has been building for days as he made the rounds at a high profile music event in Los Angeles.

The original special helped crack open a moodier space for Marvel on Disney Plus. Shot in striking black and white, it leaned into classic creature features and introduced Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Ted the Man Thing to the MCU. Fans have been asking for another bite ever since.

Now the needle has moved. A new report says Giacchino will direct a follow up to ‘Werewolf By Night’ under the Marvel Studios banner. That aligns with earlier industry rumblings that Marvel wanted to keep building its supernatural lineup and that the director remained keen to return to these characters.

Giacchino himself has played it straight when asked about revisiting the Halloween breakout. Last year he told Entertainment Weekly, “I would love to do another Werewolf by Night more than anything” and added that the team was waiting for the industry to settle before figuring out next steps. That patience now looks rewarded.

He has also kept Jack Russell’s world alive outside the screen. Earlier this year he made his Marvel Comics writing debut on a new ‘Werewolf By Night’ story, a pulpy tale that pits the hero against Dracula. It was a tidy signal that he was not done with the lycanthrope just yet.

Details on format and cast are still under wraps. The first outing arrived as a Special Presentation on Disney Plus, which gives Marvel room to experiment with length and tone while avoiding the sprawl of a full series. That template worked the first time, and it could work again if the goal is to keep things lean and eerie.

For fans who have been howling for more, the signs are finally pointing the right way. Giacchino has teased the next chapter before with a simple promise. “We’ll get there.” With this follow up now in motion, there is fresh reason to believe him.
