FX Confirms Summer 2025 Premiere for Sci-Fi Prequel ‘Alien: Earth’
FX Networks released the inaugural teaser trailer for ‘Alien: Earth’ on Wednesday, officially setting a Summer 2025 broadcast window for the highly anticipated sci-fi horror series. The thirty-second promotional spot establishes the narrative timeline as the year 2120, placing the events exactly two years before the commercial towing vehicle Nostromo encounters the Xenomorph in Ridley Scottโs 1979 original film. Showrunner Noah Hawley has designed the series to function as an immediate prequel, grounding the extraterrestrial threat on terrestrial soil for the first time in the franchise’s canon history.
Principal photography utilized extensive location work across Thailand, specifically leveraging the Studio Park facilities in the Samut Prakan province, located approximately 25 kilometers outside Bangkok. The Thailand Film Office reported that the production injected nearly 2.8 billion baht ($85.4 million) into the local economy, marking it as the largest foreign production spend in the nationโs history. Filming also extended to the limestone karst landscapes of Krabi and the coastal areas of Phang Nga to simulate the planet’s diverse terrain before wrapping production in mid-2024.
The narrative centers on Wendy, a hybrid meta-human played by Sydney Chandler, who possesses the consciousness of a child within an adult synthetic body. Timothy Olyphant co-stars as Kirsh, a synthetic mentor figure, leading an ensemble cast that includes Alex Lawther and Essie Davis. The series will stream exclusively on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in international markets, positioning it as a key driver for the platform’s subscriber growth in the third quarter of 2025.
