Valorie Curry, known for her role as Firecracker in ‘The Boys’ Season 4 on Prime Video, recently had to set the record straight with fans about maintaining appropriate behavior at conventions. At her first solo convention experience in Northern Ireland Comic Con, Belfast, she encountered a challenging situation that she shared with her followers on Instagram.

Curry began her video by highlighting the positive interactions with most fans, describing them as “lovely, kind, and respectful.” Yet, the day wasn’t without its issues. She pointed out an unpleasant experience with a fan who crossed boundaries, prompting her to discuss what’s appropriate at such events.

The actress stressed, “I know people saw a character that I played do some pretty extreme things on ‘The Boys.'” She continued to make it clear that what her character does on screen should not set expectations for her real-life interactions. “It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth,” she firmly stated.

Despite setting boundaries, the particular fan and their friend did not take it well, leading to discomfort. Curry expressed her frustration and discomfort, noting how such behavior could jeopardize her willingness to attend future conventions. “I really want to be able to do this,” she remarked, showing her genuine enthusiasm for meeting fans and discussing her roles.

The actress didn’t detail exactly what the fans demanded, but given her character’s actions in the seriesโ€”including using drugs to produce breastmilk to seduce a characterโ€”it’s implied that the demands were quite inappropriate.

Curry’s message is a call for respect and understanding from those attending conventions. She ended on a hopeful note, sharing her excitement for upcoming events, yet reminded everyone that respect is crucial.

This incident highlights an important issue within fan cultures at conventions, where actors must sometimes remind people that their on-screen personas are separate from who they are in real life. Curry’s stance on the matter should serve as a reminder to maintain professionalism and decency in all interactions at such events.
