Simu Liu Hints at a Return to the MCU with Latest Instagram Post
In 2021, despite moviegoers’ hesitation to return to theaters, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ had an impressive box office performance, raking in $432.2 million. Three years on, fans are eager to see the hero back in action. Although initially it seemed Shang-Chi would be a focal point in the Multiverse Saga, plans appear to have shifted. Rumors suggested he would lead in ‘Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time’ and ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’, but now, his rings may not be connected to Kang after all.
However, an easy fix could tie the rings back to their comic book roots in Kakaranthara, the domain of the dragon Fin Fang Foom. Amidst this speculation, Simu Liu has excited fans by posting a shirtless photo on Instagram captioned “prepping…”
This has sparked conversations about his possible involvement in upcoming Avengers films, which are scheduled to start production soon. Although this could be unrelated to Marvel, hopes are high that he’s gearing up to reprise his role as the Master of Martial Arts.
Earlier in the year, while promoting his new Netflix film ‘Atlas’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Liu was probed about the sequel. Maintaining his humor, he teased the host, asking if the intent was to get him fired. He then skillfully navigated the question, confirming, “It’s definitely happening, I should probably lead with that.” Liu expressed his gratitude for the continuous support from people who ask about the sequel daily, emphasizing how meaningful the first film’s impact was.
As enthusiastic as Liu is about returning, the sequel might face delays. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of the first film, has committed to directing ‘Spider-Man 4’. This might mean either a cameo appearance by Shang-Chi or a lengthy wait for the sequel unless a new director steps in.
For now, fans can keep their hopes up and check out Liu’s intriguing Instagram post, promising exciting times ahead in the Marvel universe.
