James Gunn Slams Rumor About Middle-Aged Batman Casting

James Gunn is putting an end to rumors swirling around the casting of Batman for DC Studios. There’s been talk lately that the studio is searching for a ‘middle-aged man’ to play the Dark Knight in their upcoming projects. But Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, didn’t hold back when he called the claim ‘bullshit.’

Previously, there were whispers from so-called insiders that DC was looking for a more seasoned Bruce Wayne. These rumors gained traction after being shared by popular online leaker @MyTimeToShineH.

According to them, the new Batman would be older, reflecting his role as a father to Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, and his years spent as Gotham’s protector. This idea was said to echo the approach taken in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where Ben Affleck played an older, battle-worn Bruce Wayne.

Adding fuel to the speculation was the talk of other veteran actors being cast in the DCU, like Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. The supposed casting direction made it seem like DC was going for a universe full of more experienced heroes.

But Gunn was quick to shut all this down. He’s been vocal about his love for Damian Wayne and how The Brave and the Bold will focus on the relationship between father and son. However, when it comes to Batman’s casting, no official decisions have been made yet.

Andy Muschietti, director of The Brave and the Bold, is also tied up with other projects, like the HBO series Welcome to Derry, meaning the Batman reboot might take a bit longer than expected.

Despite this, there’s still a lot of excitement around Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II and its spin-off, The Penguin. The future of DC’s Batman looks bright, even if we don’t have all the details just yet.

In the end, the rumor about a middle-aged Batman seems to be nothing more than gossip, with Gunn’s direct response putting an end to it.
