Cullen Bunn Writes ‘The Nine Lives of Salem’ for Archie Comics

In February 2025, Archie Comics is set to captivate readers with ‘The Nine Lives of Salem,’ a new one-shot from their Chilling Adventures Presents series.

This enthralling comic revolves around Salem, the black cat familiar from ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch,’ penned by the seasoned horror comic writer Cullen Bunn.

The artwork is crafted by a talented team comprising Dan Schoening, Ben Galvan, Matt Herms, and Jack Morelli, with cover art by Dan Schoening and a variant by Robert Hack.

‘The Nine Lives of Salem’ delves into the turbulent past of Salem, who was once a warlock. His dark history catches up to him despite his current feline form, as old adversaries seek vengeance.

Now living with the Spellman family in Greendale, right next to Riverdale, Salem may find himself using all his nine lives to fend off the threats.

Originally introduced by Dan DeCarlo and George Gladir in Archie’s Mad House #22 back in 1962, Salem’s character has undergone various transformations over the decades.

From being punished for world domination attempts to being transformed into a cat for romantic manipulations, each adaptation has added layers to his persona.

As Sabrina’s occasional voice of reason, Salem often challenges her more impulsive decisions, highlighting his enduring role in her adventures.

This comic is sure to weave a captivating tale of suspense and supernatural intrigue as it explores the consequences of Salem’s former misdeeds and his attempts at redemption.
