The fourth season of ‘The Boys’ wrapped up on July 18, 2024, leaving us all trying to wrap our heads around its jaw-dropping content. Since its premiere on June 13, the series has been a hit, earning a Certified Fresh label thanks to its impressive viewership numbers.

We’re still hooked on the show and everything it brings to the table. That’s why I’m here to share some insider scoops, including throwbacks to earlier seasons that showcase the daring nature of its production team and cast.

Going back to Season 1, there’s a hilarious behind-the-scenes story about The Deep, played by Chace Crawford, who found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy. It happened during a photoshoot for an official Amazon calendar released in 2019. Each character was posed uniquely, but The Deep’s photo was particularly striking due to a rather prominent feature.

The actor was wearing a prosthetic that exaggerated his anatomy, intended as a nod to his character’s traits in the show. However, when the Amazon executives saw it, they were not amused. They demanded it be edited out, marking one of the few times the show received direct feedback to alter its content.

Eric Kripke, the showrunner, shared that it was the first major note they got from Amazon: ‘That can’t f**king happen, we’ve got to take that out.’ So, the CGI team had to step in and make the necessary edits to the image.

This incident highlights the boldness that ‘The Boys’ is known for, blending intense drama with a sense of humor that sometimes pushes boundaries. It’s just one of many stories that demonstrate how much effort goes into making this show as remarkable as it is.

Even with the series continuing to push limits and draw in viewers, it’s these little anecdotes from behind the scenes that add an extra layer of fun for us. It’s always exciting to see what they’ll come up with next, both on and off the screen.
