Rumors: Avengers 5 Will be Nothing Close to Endgame

Avengers 5 will feature the multiverse but remain grounded as a film. Filming starts in January 2025. Marvel is expected to announce the new actor for Kang in the coming months. We have been worried about Kang since Jonathan Majors was dismissed from Marvel Studios after his conviction for assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors’ Kang had a big role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

After his cameo in Loki season 1, Kang was a key villain in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, setting the tone for future Marvel projects. Reports reveal potential changes for Avengers 5, which will be different from Avengers: Endgame. The tone will be more grounded, with a multiversal touch. This approach worked well for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Captain America 4, starring Anthony Mackie, follows a similar grounded narrative.

Jonathan Majors’ return as Kang is unlikely. Marvel doesn’t want to face backlash after delaying his dismissal. Reports suggest a recast, with Colman Domingo and John David Washington among the actors considered for the role. Domingo, known for his roles in Fear the Walking Dead and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, is a strong candidate. Washington impressed in BlacKkKlansman and Tenet.

Avengers 5 will be different from its predecessor, focusing on a grounded narrative while exploring the multiverse. This change might please those who enjoyed street-level Marvel stories. The upcoming Charlie Cox series, Daredevil: Born Again, will have a similar essence. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will hit theaters on May 1, 2026.

While we wait for the official announcement of the new Kang actor, the buzz around the potential choices is exciting. Whether it’s Colman Domingo or John David Washington, the new Kang will bring a fresh dynamic to the character and the MCU.
