Barry Keoghan May Star in New ‘Joker’ Series at Max After ‘The Penguin’ Success

It appears HBO Max is exploring a new series centered on the Joker, portrayed by Barry Keoghan, following the popularity of ‘The Penguin’ series.

The Batman universe, masterminded by Matt Reeves, is expanding, and this latest venture is part of that growth.

The idea of a Penguin series was initially met with skepticism, yet it has been a hit since its debut, featuring Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. Their performances and the series’ intense atmosphere have received high praise.

Industry insiders hint that the new project will draw from Keoghan’s brief appearance as the Joker in ‘The Batman: Part I’.

While Matt Reeves and Lauren LeFranc hinted at future projects, nothing is confirmed yet.

Keoghan’s character was originally an unnamed Arkham prisoner but was revealed to be the Joker.

A scene deleted from the initial movie release, showing Keoghan’s Joker with Robert Pattinson’s Batman, was later shared by Warner Bros., garnering positive feedback.

Although Collider suggested over a year ago that Keoghan would return in the sequel, the actor himself has remained coy, hinting at a possible cameo without confirming anything directly.

In a recent interview with Variety, Keoghan expressed excitement about possibly returning to the role, noting, “It would be exciting, wouldn’t it? To see The Joker come to life again.”

Despite not giving away too much, it seems we might indeed see more of Keoghan’s Joker, perhaps setting the stage for a larger role in ‘The Batman III’ if it moves forward.
