Beau DeMayo Reveals the Truth About Morph’s Feelings for Wolverine in ‘X-Men ’97’
‘X-Men ’97’ has been a hit since its first episode. We’ve loved the storyline and how true the show stays to its roots. Yet, it’s not just the action that’s got us talking. The show introduced Morph as non-binary and hinted at a romance between Morph and Wolverine, which got a lot of us debating.
In a pivotal scene, Morph sees Wolverine in the shower and makes a light-hearted comment. This moment quickly turns dark as Wolverine snaps back. This and other subtle hints in later episodes suggested there might be more to their relationship. In the season’s last episode, as Wolverine suffers from a severe injury, Morph, appearing as Jean, confesses his love. This act could be seen as just a friend trying to encourage Wolverine to stay strong. But Beau DeMayo confirmed on social media that it was indeed Morph expressing his own feelings.

The reaction has been mixed. Some of us think this new dynamic is a fresh take, especially when you compare it to the usual Wolverine and Jean storyline. DeMayo’s confirmation has at least settled the debate for those of us who thought we might be reading too much into it. It’s good to know our instincts were right.
Could Marvel Studios be teasing an LGBTQ storyline for Wolverine?
To be honest, I doubt it. I don’t think they can do something like that with such a huge character like Wolverine. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to do some bromance between him and Deadpool for example, or in the future with Morph once they introduce mutants into the MCU.
While the feeling seems to be one-sided for now, who knows where this storyline might lead? It’s interesting, and it definitely makes us eager to see what’s next for these characters.
