Benedict Cumberbatch Teases an Exciting Future for ‘Avengers 5’
Benedict Cumberbatch recently shared some exciting insights about the upcoming ‘Avengers 5’. While reflecting on his diverse acting career during a Netflix interview, he touched upon his journey with Marvel, particularly his role as Doctor Strange. He highlighted the initial scheduling challenges that almost prevented him from taking the role. Fortunately, Marvel was eager to have him, adjusting their schedule to make it work. This flexibility seems to have paid off, leading to a strong ongoing relationship with Marvel.
Cumberbatch is particularly thrilled about the next Avengers film, set to launch in 2025. He described it as ‘cooking up a storm’, suggesting big things are in store. This is a refreshing piece of news especially since the future of the film seemed uncertain after Jonathan Majors, who was to star as the villain Kang, was removed from the project. Marvel hasn’t confirmed whether they will recast Kang or introduce a new antagonist, but they are definitely moving forward with the project.
As for the director’s seat, it’s still up for grabs. Daniel Destin Cretton was considered but stepped back due to other commitments. Shawn Levy, known for his work on ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, was also offered the role. Although he initially had to decline due to scheduling conflicts, the success of his current projects might make him reconsider. Marvel seems willing to wait for him if other commitments clear up.
The movie is set to start filming next year and is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. While we wait for more details to emerge, itโs clear that Marvel is keeping a tight lid on developments. However, with production drawing closer, we might get more leaks and confirmations on what to expect from the much-anticipated film.
