Benedict Cumberbatch’s Uncertain Future in the MCU

Doctor Strange is a key figure in the MCU, rising from a modest beginning to a central role in the multiverse saga. After ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ many of us expected him to take on an even more prominent part. But now, Benedict Cumberbatch’s future in the MCU isn’t as clear as we thought.

Marvel has more than 30 projects in the works, but thereโ€™s almost no news about ‘Doctor Strange 3.’ In a recent chat with The Playlist, Cumberbatch said he knows as little as we do. When asked about the third installment, he said, ‘Who knows.’

If ‘Doctor Strange 3’ doesn’t happen soon, we might see the Sorcerer Supreme in ‘Avengers 5.’ However, Cumberbatch isn’t sure about that either. He mentioned, ‘We will see. We will find out. I’m not sure where he’s been and what he’s been up to and who with, but yeah, I know as little as you.’

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ got mixed reviews. Critics liked Sam Raimi’s style and the action scenes, but they found the plot complicated and the character development lacking. The horror elements were praised, but the movie relied heavily on CGI and didn’t have enough narrative depth. It had some fun moments but didn’t fully live up to its potential in the MCU.

Cumberbatch’s uncertainty about his role leaves us wondering about Doctor Strange’s next steps. His character has become important, so itโ€™s surprising that even he doesnโ€™t know whatโ€™s next. Weโ€™ll have to wait and see how Marvel decides to use the Sorcerer Supreme in the future.
