‘Blade’ Movie Undergoes New Major Revisions
‘Blade’ is set for more significant revisions, with Marvel now looking for a new writer. Even though the storyline is finalized, filming will begin in Mexico or Brazil in Fall 2024. This news adds to the movie’s evolving production journey, which has seen several changes in direction and script.
Casting for a new male main villain is currently underway. This suggests Marvel is committed to making sure ‘Blade’ has a compelling antagonist to face off against Mahershala Ali, who plays the title character, Eric Brooks/Blade. Ali’s involvement in the project, which he initiated, was a turning point for the film’s development.

Kevin Feige has long expressed interest in bringing Blade into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back in 2016, he mentioned the potential for the character to appear across various Marvel platforms. By 2019, at San Diego Comic-Con, it was officially announced that a Blade film was in development with Ali set to star.
The production history of ‘Blade’ is filled with changes. Initially, Marvel considered rebooting the character as a TV series. After deciding on a film, the project saw several shifts in production schedules and writing teams. In September 2022, Bassam Tariq stepped down as the director but stayed on as an executive producer. Beau DeMayo and later Michael Starrbury joined as writers at different stages.
The cast includes Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo, Mia Goth, and Milan Ray, though many of their roles remain undisclosed. The film’s release has also been pushed back multiple times, now set for November 7, 2025.
Recently, Yann Demange revealed that ‘Blade’ would have an R rating, a significant decision for the film’s tone and style. This aligns with the darker, more mature themes often associated with the character.
The production is set to resume once a new writer is secured. Despite the numerous changes and delays, the excitement for ‘Blade’ remains high. We look forward to seeing how these revisions shape the final film.
