‘Captain America 4’ Powers Through: Sabra’s Role Grows Despite Controversy
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. This film, part of the MCU’s Phase Five, features Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, following Chris Evans’ portrayal of Steve Rogers.
The production of ‘Brave New World’ wasn’t smooth, having been pushed back from its original release this year. The delay was due to poor feedback from early screenings, leading to extensive reshoots.
The film has faced backlash over the inclusion of Sabra, an Israeli superheroine. Sabra, or Ruth Bat-Seraph, is a mutant and a Mossad agent. Her presence in the movie raised concerns among Arab audiences about potential negative portrayals. Despite calls for her removal, actress Shira Haas had completed her scenes.
Despite rumors of her character being cut due to the reshoots, it appears this isn’t the case. Insider DanielRPK tweeted that Sabra is not only staying but will have an expanded role as a heroine. Marvel has stated that in the film, Sabra is an employee of the U.S. government, aiming to avoid any disrespect.
With the movie’s release date nearing, more updates are sure to come. We’ll keep you posted on all the latest developments. Stay tuned for more news about ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.
