Chris Pratt Hints at Returning as Star-Lord and Joining the DCU

Chris Pratt recently talked about his chances of returning as Star-Lord and joining the DCU. ‘I think it’s 100% both,’ he said in an interview with ComicBook.com while promoting The Garfield Movie. This came after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which was intended to be the final movie for the team. However, the movie also set up potential follow-ups and spin-offs.

One post-credits scene introduced a new Guardians team led by Rocket Raccoon. Another scene hinted at a solo Star-Lord adventure, with Peter Quill, played by Pratt, returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather. Director James Gunn has mentioned plans for a ‘Legendary Star-Lord’ movie, focusing on Quill adapting to life on Earth. Gunn and Pratt have often talked about this idea.

Things have changed since then, with Gunn now co-CEO of DC Studios. He has shown interest in working with his Guardians actors in the DCU, sparking speculation about Pratt taking on a role in this new franchise. When asked if he would reprise Star-Lord or join the DCU, Pratt said, ‘It probably makes more sense that I would be Star-Lord again. But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.’

While Pratt’s comment suggests possibilities, it shouldn’t be taken as confirmation. He was responding to a hypothetical question and not being completely serious. Still, the idea of him returning as Star-Lord or joining the DCU is exciting.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gave us a fitting send-off for the team but left doors open for more stories. Pratt’s connection with Gunn and their discussions about future projects keep the possibilities open. Whether we see Star-Lord back in action or Pratt taking on a DCU role, it’s something to look forward to.
