Deadpool Breaks His Own Rules: What Happens When the Merc Meets Wolverine?

In a talk with Variety, Ryan Reynolds said he has a strict rule for Deadpool: he’s the only one allowed to break the fourth wall in his films. But in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, it looks like this rule doesn’t hold up. The movie features not just Deadpool, but another character from the MCU who manages to break the fourth wall.

Deadpool, played by Reynolds, has been known for speaking directly to the audience, which he carries into his latest movie. However, he’s not the only character in the MCU who does this. Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk, was actually the first to break the fourth wall in the Marvel comics, eight years before Deadpool did.

Reynolds’ recent interviews hint at the difficulty of mixing Deadpool with characters like She-Hulk. Despite this, the duo of Deadpool and Nicepool in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ proves that having more than one character who breaks the fourth wall can be very entertaining. Nicepool, a less scarred version of Deadpool, makes a memorable reference to ‘The Proposal’, adding a fun layer to the film.

The interaction between Deadpool and Nicepool shows that breaking the fourth wall together could bring out hilarious moments. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was well-received, suggesting that Reynolds might reconsider his ‘golden rule’. The chemistry between characters who share this unique trait, like Deadpool and She-Hulk, could lead to some fantastic scenes.

The 2022 series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ also used fourth wall breaks effectively, especially in the final episode. Deadpool himself hasn’t gone as far in his fourth wall-breaking antics. Teaming up with She-Hulk might give him new ways to engage with the audience.

Both Deadpool and She-Hulk spice up their stories with humor, which makes their potential collaboration even more appealing. They could join forces in future MCU films like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. This partnership could allow Deadpool to fully integrate into the MCU, letting him break the fourth wall without holding back other characters.

We would love to see Deadpool moving freely in the MCU, interacting with other characters who can match his wit and awareness of the audience. It would not only be entertaining but also a fresh way to experience these beloved characters.
