This weekend, all eyes are on ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which is expected to make a staggering $180 million to $200 million at the domestic box office. After a six-year wait since Ryan Reynoldsโ€™ last appearance as Deadpool and a seven-year gap from Hugh Jackmanโ€™s ‘Logan,’ their return is highly anticipated. Both actors are now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adding to the excitement.

As reported by Deadline, the film is expected to have a worldwide opening of around $360 million!

According to Fandango, the movie has already broken this year’s pre-sale records, surpassing those set by ‘Dune: Part Two’ in February. The promotional efforts have been immense, with Reynolds leveraging his Maximum Effort agency to team up with big brands and even design a special popcorn bucket for AMC.

The movie is projected to become the biggest R-rated opening ever, outdoing previous records set by ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Deadpool 2.’ Despite this promising start, some critics suggest the film might struggle to maintain momentum. They point out that the heavy use of inside jokes and references could alienate general audiences. Moreover, fatigue from Marvelโ€™s complex multiverse narratives might also affect viewer interest.

Meanwhile, ‘Twisters,’ now in its second week, is looking to earn between $40 million and $45 million. The tornado-chasing film had a strong debut last week, making it the most successful natural disaster movie opener. It appeals broadly, especially in areas where the R-rated antics of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ might be less appreciated.

‘Universal/Illuminationโ€™s ‘Despicable Me 4’ is in its fourth week, aiming to add $12 million to $15 million to its haul. Despite weaker global performance compared to its predecessors, it has already surpassed the domestic earnings of the first ‘Despicable Me’ and is approaching its third installmentโ€™s figures. While it may not reach the heights of Pixarโ€™s ‘Inside Out 2,’ it remains a profitable venture for both the studio and movie theaters.

In summary, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is on track to set records, ‘Twisters’ holds strong appeal, and ‘Despicable Me 4’ continues to draw families. Each film caters to different audiences, setting the stage for a dynamic box office weekend.
