‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Soar Past MCU Favorites in Box Office Smash!

The movie Deadpool & Wolverine has recently made an impressive mark in the MCU box office records. It’s now ranked ninth among the top-grossing MCU movies, having surpassed major titles like Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Its current earnings stand at $1.142 billion globally.

It’s interesting that Deadpool & Wolverine achieved this in just 24 days, without any major movie releases before or after it that could have boosted its visibility. This feat is especially notable given that it was released during what many consider a low point for the MCU.

We’re talking about a movie that doesn’t just rake in cash but also brings the excitement. Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Hugh Jackman really delivered what we want to see: action, beloved characters, and a solid story. This is a sharp contrast to some recent MCU titles that havenโ€™t performed as well. For example, The Marvels, despite being a sequel to Captain Marvel and featuring Ms. Marvel, only earned $206 million and resulted in a substantial loss for Disney.

Comparing box office numbers, Captain Marvel closed its run with $1.128 billion. On the other hand, Deadpool & Wolverine has already surpassed Spider-Man: Far From Home’s $1.131 billion and is not far behind Captain America: Civil War, which sits at $1.155 billion.

Here’s a quick rundown of where other MCU films stand: Avengers: Endgame leads the pack with a staggering $2.799 billion. It’s followed by Avengers: Infinity War at $2.052 billion and Spider-Man: No Way Home at $1.921 billion. Other top earners include The Avengers with $1.520 billion, Avengers: Age of Ultron at $1.405 billion, and Black Panther at $1.349 billion. Iron Man 3 also made the list with $1.215 billion.

MCU highest-grossing movies:

  1. Avengers: Endgameย โ€“ $2,799,439,100
  2. Avengers: Infinity Warย โ€“ $2,052,415,039
  3. Spider-Man: No Way Homeย โ€“ $1,921,847,111
  4. The Avengersย โ€“ $1,520,538,536
  5. Avengers: Age of Ultronย โ€“ $1,405,018,048
  6. Black Pantherย โ€“ $1,349,926,083
  7. Iron Man 3ย โ€“ $1,215,577,205
  8. Captain America: Civil Warย โ€“ $1,155,046,416
  9. Deadpool & Wolverineย โ€“ $1,142,616,895
  10. Spider-Man: Far from Homeย โ€“ $1,131,927,996

The underperformance of The Marvels, paired with the strong showing of Deadpool & Wolverine, might be a clear signal for the directions we’d like to see more in future MCU projects. As it stands, if there’s a Deadpool 4, it looks promising for not repeating the low performance of some of the MCUโ€™s recent offerings.

What do you think? Can Deadpool & Wolverine climb even higher and perhaps outshine Captain America: Civil War soon? Let’s keep an eye on the charts and see how far our favorite unconventional heroes can go.
