Disney Cast Member Recovering After Stopping Runaway Boulder from Hitting Audience

A massive prop boulder veered off its intended track during a live performance of the ‘Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Cast member Robert positioned himself in front of the rolling prop to halt its progress toward seated guests. His intervention prevented potential harm to the audience but resulted in him sustaining injuries.

The incident involved an inflated faux boulder designed to recreate the iconic chase sequence from ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’. The prop deviated from its predetermined path along the stage edge. Robert was struck, knocked backward, and landed on his back with a visible gash on his head that caused bleeding.

Fellow cast members immediately rushed to his aid. One covered the head wound with their hands while others helped him stand and escorted him offstage. Robert later reappeared briefly to wave at the audience, prompting a standing ovation from spectators.

Video footage captured the boulder’s unexpected movement and Robert’s quick actions. A bystander exclaimed during the recording, “He literally saved our lives, that guy.” Audience members expressed shock as the scene unfolded in the show’s opening sequence.

Eyewitness Drew Bruinsma, seated in the audience, recounted the moment. “We were sitting there and didn’t know what was going on, then all of the sudden a worker named Robert stepped in front and saved us from getting smashed,” she said. Bruinsma described the experience as chaotic and memorable.

Disney responded by temporarily modifying the performance. The boulder element has been removed from the opening scene. The show has resumed operations while a safety review takes place.

A Disney spokesperson provided a statement on the matter. “We’re focused on supporting our cast member who is recovering,” the spokesperson said. “Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”

Reports from individuals claiming familiarity with Robert indicate he received stitches for the head injury. His actions have been described as those of a former stunt performer using quick thinking under pressure. Disney continues to prioritize cast member support during recovery.
