Doctor Doom, the New Sorcerer Supreme, Takes Over the Marvel Universe

Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, rules Latveria and is notorious for his battles against the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and Doctor Strange.

Over the years, he has harnessed powers from the Silver Surfer, Scarlet Witch, and even the Beyonders. His latest conquest has granted him the role of the new Sorcerer Supreme.

In the upcoming Marvel Comics series called One World Under Doom, this significant change in power will be explored. The series is expected to be the biggest event since the 2008 Dark Reign.

The main series, Rise of Emperor Doom, will be written by Ryan North and illustrated by R.B. Silva, alongside several tie-ins and one-shots, such as Doom Academy by MacKenzie Cadenhead and Pasqual Ferry.

Ryan North explains that this series will show Doctor Doom expanding his rule beyond Latveria to take over the entire world.

Overnight, every country becomes a part of a united Latveria under Doom’s rule. He promises to implement major changes, which might not bode well for anyone not named Victor Von Doom.

Here’s a quick synopsis of the situation:

Six months ago, Doom took on the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme and then vanished. His absence was seen as a brief respite until he reemerged, taking control of every global broadcast to declare himself Emperor of the World. All the world’s leaders seem to be inexplicably cooperating with his takeover.

Earth’s heroes haven’t been affected by whatever is controlling the leaders, so they form a team to challenge Doom. As they attempt to thwart his plans, they discover some people are actually welcoming their new ruler.

The backstory of how Doom became Sorcerer Supreme starts with the Blood Hunt event. When Stephen Strange needed help against a vampire threat, he turned to Doom, who agreed to help under the condition that he’d be made Sorcerer Supreme temporarily.

After the threat was neutralized, Strange expected his title back, but Doom decided to keep it, showing a new side to his ambitions.

Doom’s first act as Sorcerer Supreme involved delegating a significant responsibility to Spider-Man, who now faces the 8 Deaths of Spider-Man in his Doom-inspired magical armor.

The series kicks off with The Rise of Emperor Doom #1, hitting the shelves on February 2, 2025. This storyline promises to reshape the Marvel Universe, setting a new standard for Doom’s influence across the globe.
