Dwayne Johnson’s Stunt Double Took Center Stage in ‘Black Adam’

Dwayne Johnson, known to many as The Rock, had his stunt double play a big role in ‘Black Adam’. Popular wrestling journalist Jim Cornette recently shared that much of the movie was filmed with Johnson’s stunt double, using CGI to swap in Johnson’s face. This revelation came amid stories of Johnson’s consistent lateness on set, as reported by The Wrap.

Johnson once promoted ‘Black Adam’ as the beginning of a new era for the DC Universe. He claimed that the ‘hierarchy of power’ in the DC Universe was about to change. Sadly, the film turned out to be the start of a series of critical and commercial flops for DC Studios.

Johnson blamed the movie’s failure on the changes in leadership at DC Studios. He explained on ‘Hart to Heart’ that ‘Black Adam’ got caught in a ‘vortex of new leadership.’ He believed that frequent changes at the top led to decisions he didn’t agree with, impacting the film’s success.

Johnson felt that despite the challenges, ‘Black Adam’ had the biggest opening of his career. He mentioned the absence of the China market, which he thought could have added another $100 or $200 million. Johnson also highlighted that the film brought back Henry Cavill as Superman, which thrilled many fans. Additionally, he noted the diverse superhero cast, featuring men and women of color.

Comparing the situation to an NFL team under new ownership, Johnson felt that new leadership at DC Studios wanted to take the franchise in a different direction. He suggested that his attempts to include Henry Cavill in the movie might have strained his relationship with the new DC heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran.

While it’s true that ‘Black Adam’ faced leadership issues, it also struggled due to its massive budget and failure to meet box office expectations. The film needed to earn much more to cover its costs. Johnson’s behind-the-scenes maneuvers didn’t help either, potentially complicating his future with DC Studios.
