Everything ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Did, ‘She-Hulk’ Did Better

‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ have a lot in common, especially in how they use humor and break the fourth wall. But while ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has been a box office hit, pulling in $211 million during its first weekend, ‘She-Hulk’ did many things better but got less credit.

Both characters talk directly to us, letting us know they know they’re in a movie. ‘She-Hulk’ started doing this way back before Deadpool was even around. In the movies, She-Hulk uses this trick to share her thoughts directly with us, which feels unique because no one else in her world knows she’s doing it. Deadpool does it too, but he’s also making jokes, and others in his movies are kind of in on it.

We also see She-Hulk and Deadpool showing us more about who they are, including being open about their sexuality. Deadpool flirts around, even with Wolverine, and it’s all taken in stride. She-Hulk shows a similar openness, but when she dates around, she faces harsh judgment. This isn’t fair since both are just being themselves.

The jokes in ‘She-Hulk’ hit closer to home. In her finale, She-Hulk doesn’t just make us laugh; she pulls us into her world to confront the writers and even K.E.V.I.N., a stand-in for a big boss at Marvel. She calls out how repetitive MCU can be, like always ending with a big fight. This wasn’t just funny; it was smart and fresh.

But when ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ tries to do the same, it feels like it’s just going through the motions. Deadpool says things like we’re at a low point in MCU, but he’s still playing the same old games. It feels like he’s trying to get away with it by making us laugh, which doesn’t always work.

The reactions to their dance scenes show another double standard. She-Hulk’s dance with Megan the Stallion was called cringe-worthy by some, making fun of MCU. But when Deadpool does a dance to an old *NSYNC song while fighting, it’s suddenly cool and nostalgic.

In simple terms, both ‘She-Hulk’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ bring fun and clever twists to the superhero genre. But it seems like She-Hulk, despite doing some things first and maybe even better, doesn’t get the same applause. Maybe we’re a bit tougher on her because she’s a woman doing the same things the boys are doing, but somehow it’s not seen the same way.

According to Movie Web, if you’re watching these shows and movies, take a moment to notice these little things. ‘She-Hulk’ might just surprise you with how sharp and funny it is, even if it doesn’t have the box office numbers to show for it.
