Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series ‘Agatha All Along’ is set to release its first two episodes on September 18, 2024. The show, starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha, brings a fresh take on Marvel’s universe with a mix of dark comedy and witchcraft. The teaser trailer hints at an unconventional series that steps away from typical Marvel formula.

In a recent ‘Rolling Stone‘ interview, Joe Locke, who plays a character nicknamed ‘Teen’, shared insights into the show’s plot and his role. He explained that the series follows Agatha and a coven on a journey called the Witches’ Road, mixing magic and mystery with a band of unlikely allies. He emphasizes that ‘Agatha All Along’ offers something new to Marvel fans, combining fun and intrigue with magical adventures.

Locke also revealed that his character will be gay in the series, mirroring the sexuality of the comic book character Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan, who is suggested to be his character’s true identity. He described the portrayal of his character’s sexuality as truthful and positive, highlighting that it’s just one part of who he is.

This confirmation has sparked a mix of reactions. We’ve seen a range of responses, from strong support to outright rejection. Some viewers have even compared the series to ‘The Acolyte’ of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a few stating they will boycott the show. Others, however, appreciate the authenticity to the comic book origins, where Wiccan is depicted as gay from a young age and faces challenges such as bullying due to his sexuality.

Joe Locke’s character is central to the storyline as he assists Agatha in breaking free from a spell cast by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda in ‘WandaVision’. As we await the series launch, it remains to be seen how ‘Teen’s’ sexuality will impact the overall reception of ‘Agatha All Along’.
