First Glimpse of Superman’s Possible Main Villain and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr.
Recently released set photos from James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ are stirring excitement as they reveal key characters that could shape the movie’s plot. We see David Corenswet stepping into the iconic boots of Superman, flanked by Maria Gabrielle de Faria as the Engineer and Frank Grillo portraying Rick Flag Sr. There’s also a mysterious, armored figure who could be the main villain, sparking plenty of speculation.
The storyline may involve Superman confronting a clone or doppelgänger. Although James Gunn initially debunked rumors about Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, creating a clone from Superman’s DNA, the new photos suggest there could still be a twist involving a powerful adversary.
Joining the adventure, Rachel Brosnahan will appear as Lois Lane, with Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner. The cast also includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and potentially Milly Alcock as Supergirl, hinting at her future standalone film.
The film was originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy’ but was simplified to ‘SUPERMAN’ by the time production began. Gunn shared his enthusiasm on what coincidentally was Superman’s birthday, marking the start of principal photography on February 29. The film aims to delve into Superman’s dual identity as both the superhero and Clark Kent, potentially bringing his ‘super friends’ into the mix, though it remains to be seen if they will form an official team.
