Garret Dillahunt Joins HBO’s Lanterns in a Mysterious Villain Role
HBO’s upcoming series ‘Lanterns’ is gathering an impressive cast, and the latest to join is Garret Dillahunt, known for his roles in ‘Deadwood’ and ‘Looper.’
He’s set to play a villain, though it’s hinted by Deadline that his character, William Macon, isn’t from the comic books we know.
Macon is portrayed as a modern cowboy with a knack for hiding his cutthroat ambition behind a captivating smile and a strategic approach.
Adding to the ensemble are Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, taking on the roles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart respectively.
They’re joined by Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry. James Hawes is directing the initial episodes, bringing a rich background from projects like ‘Snowpiercer’ and ‘The Alienist.’ The creative team also boasts names like Damon Lindelof and Chris Mundy.
‘Lanterns’ will focus on the Green Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they unravel a dark mystery on Earth, reminiscent of a detective story but with a cosmic twist.
We’ll also see Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, aligning with the new direction under DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Production is expected to start early 2025 in the UK, eyeing a 2026 release.
This project promises a blend of terrestrial and intergalactic storytelling that could breathe new life into the Green Lantern saga.
With such a talented cast and crew, we’re in for a treat. As reported by Nexus Point News, Poorna Jagannathan might also be joining the cast, rounding out an already stellar lineup. Stay tuned as more unfolds about this intriguing series!
