Gina Carano, once a part of ‘The Mandalorian’ on Disney+, has recently shared her emotional reaction to a legal victory. She expressed that she was brought to tears when a Los Angeles judge allowed her lawsuit against Disney to proceed, denying the company’s request to dismiss it. This lawsuit stems from her removal from the series following her controversial social media posts.

Carano compared the treatment of people based on political views in the US to actions taken against Jews during the Holocaust, which sparked significant backlash and led to her being fired. Her posts highlighted the historical edit of events and the role of community in the persecution of Jews, questioning how different it is when political beliefs are the cause today.

The judge, Sherilyn Peace Garnett, ruled against Disney’s claim that it was within their rights to separate from Carano’s political expressions, deeming it part of their artistic message. This decision marks a pivotal point, as Carano has described the past three and a half years as ‘brutal’ and appreciates the chance to clear her name legally.

On her X account, Carano stated, ‘I am moved to tears. After a brutal 3 1/2 years, I am being given the opportunity to move forward in the court of law before the judge and my peers to clear my name.’ She expressed gratitude for the support she received and highlighted the injustice she believes was done to her. Carano’s fight in her career has been marked by significant ups and downs, reflecting her background as a former MMA champion.

Elon Musk has played an unexpected role in her legal battle, funding her lawsuit and providing attorneys. Carano thanked Musk, stating, ‘Thank you to @elonmusk, a man I have never even met, who so graciously gave me a fighting chance.’ She praised him for his stand for justice.

Carano, who portrayed the mercenary Cara Dune on the Star Wars series, looks forward to returning to storytelling and helping the world heal through art. Despite the painful experiences, she feels that the burden is lifting and is hopeful for justice in her ongoing case.

In her journey, Carano has not only had to deal with professional setbacks but also public and social media backlash, especially after the #FireGinaCarano hashtag trended. She remains resilient, however, stating, ‘I’m sure it will be quite a battle ahead, but God’s given me the ability to take some punches and give some back. My feet are on solid ground. Imagine what your voice can do.’

Her situation resonates with many who feel unfairly treated in professional settings due to their personal beliefs. This case could set a precedent for how companies handle such disputes and the rights of individuals to express their views without fear of losing their careers.
