On Friday, November 21, HBO and Warner Bros. Television officially confirmed the selection of the three young actors who will portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in the upcoming decade-long series adaptation. The announcement marks the end of an exhaustive nine-month open casting call that reportedly processed over 35,000 video submissions from children across the United Kingdom and Ireland. While the studio has chosen to withhold the specific names of the actors until a formal press unveiling scheduled for CCXP in Sรฃo Paulo next month, executives confirmed that signed contracts are now in place for a seven-season commitment.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod personally oversaw the final chemistry tests held last week at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same facility where the original eight films were produced. Sources close to the production revealed that the decision-making process involved rigorous screen tests on reconstructed sets of the Gryffindor Common Room to gauge the dynamic between the finalists. The chosen trio, described by insiders as “unknown talents from the British theater circuit,” will reportedly earn a starting salary of $40,000 per episode, a figure that is expected to escalate significantly as the series progresses.

The production timeline has also been solidified, with principal photography slated to begin on April 6, 2026. To accommodate the scale of the project, Warner Bros. Discovery has invested approximately $150 million into expanding the soundstages and virtual production capabilities at the Leavesden complex. This infrastructure upgrade is designed to support the show’s heavy reliance on practical effects, a creative mandate pushed by executive producer J.K. Rowling to distinguish the series’ visual identity from the earlier cinematic adaptations.

Financial analysts at Morgan Stanley have projected that the series will be the most expensive television production in history on a per-season basis, with a preliminary budget estimated at $250 million for the first eight episodes. This massive investment reflects the studio’s strategy to position the ‘Harry Potter’ series as the anchor for the Max streaming service through the late 2030s. As pre-production enters its final phase, the casting department is now shifting focus to the adult roles, with high-profile negotiations reportedly underway for the roles of Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape.
