Henry Cavill’s Possible Return as Superman in a New Movie

Matthew Vaughn wants to team up with Henry Cavill again. This time, he wants Cavill to play Superman in a different type of superhero movie, separate from the current DC Universe. Vaughn, who directed Cavill in ‘Argylle’, expressed interest in making a ‘Superman: Red Son‘ movie. Vaughn said, ‘I thought Red Son was one of the cleverest comics Iโ€™d ever read.’ He believes the story has become more relevant with today’s world issues and would love to see Cavill as Superman in this unique take.

Cavill started playing Superman in 2013 with ‘Man of Steel’, but his time as Superman ended when DC Studios decided to move forward with a new DC Universe, including James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ movie. Despite this, Vaughn’s idea of a ‘Superman: Red Son’ movie could give Cavill a chance to return as Superman. This movie wouldn’t clash with what Gunn is doing with David Corenswet’s Superman.

An Elseworlds movie would be a great way for Cavill to play Superman again. It would explore a major Elseworlds comic and keep Cavillโ€™s Superman separate from the new DC Universe. Vaughn also mentioned how this could allow for a proper showdown between Cavill’s Superman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. This could give a fitting end to Cavill’s Superman era.

In 2020, ‘Superman: Red Son’ was made into an animated DC movie with Jason Isaacs voicing Superman. However, seeing Cavill in a live-action version would be something special. We can only wait to see if this idea becomes a reality.

Even if Cavill never returns as Superman, his legacy in the role remains strong. He helped bring Superman to a new generation of fans and became a big name in Hollywood through his portrayal of the character. For now, we can still enjoy his performances in past DC movies.
