Henry Cavill’s Superman Might Still Fit in the New DCU

James Gunn’s vision for the revamped DC Universe (DCU) includes very few elements from the previous DCEU. He confirmed that almost nothing would carry over, except for ‘Peacemaker’ Season 1 and the character Blue Beetle. The rest is getting a fresh start.

Recently, Gunn made an announcement about ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 that seems to mix things up a bit. He’s bringing in Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., who also voices the character in an animated show. Gunn mentioned he prefers voice actors to reprise their roles in live-action too. This casting ties ‘The Suicide Squad’ to the new DCU because Grillo’s character has a score to settle with Peacemaker over the death of his son, Flag Jr., from ‘The Suicide Squad’.

This connection might mean more characters from the original DCEU could appear in the new universe. For instance, if Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag is part of this universe, it’s possible that others like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller might show up too. We saw Waller in the post-credit scene of Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’, linking her to this new universe.

The big question now is about Henry Cavill’s Superman. With all these connections, could he also be part of Gunn’s DCU? We’re curious to see how Gunn will blend the old with the new without causing confusion, even though he promised a smooth transition.

It’s interesting to see how Gunn’s promise of a clear and non-confusing storyline will hold up with these overlapping characters from different versions of the DC universe. We’re hoping it all comes together well.
