Hugh Jackman Hilariously Teases His Return as Wolverine When He’s 90
Hugh Jackman’s back as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ and he’s not going anywhere soon if Disney has its way. In a fun Instagram post, Jackman shares a video where he wears a TVA jacket, looking puzzled as Deadpool’s voice keeps saying ’til you’re 90.’ It seems he’s resigned to sticking with his iconic role for many more years, even joking with a title card that says ‘See you in 2058.’ The backdrop music? Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer.’
Jackman first portrayed Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s 2000 ‘X-Men,’ making it nearly a quarter-century run. He nearly set a record for the longest career as a Marvel character. However, Wesley Snipes took that title by reprising his role as Eric Brooks in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ 25 years and 340 days after his first appearance in ‘Blade.’
The Australian actor is 55 now, and playing Wolverine until 90 might seem far-fetched. Yet, considering Harrison Ford is playing Red Hulk at 80 with the help of facial-capture tech, it’s not impossible. Disney and Marvel might just have similar plans for Jackman.
While Jackman keeps quiet about his future with the MCU and Marvel Studios, the buzz is that he and Ryan Reynolds could join the Avengers in ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Hunter B-15 hints at more adventures for Wolverine and Deadpool, suggesting we’ll see more of them.
The movie also teases a potential appearance in an Avengers crossover, ending the Multiverse Saga. When Deadpool and Wolverine find themselves in the Void, they stumble upon a half-buried comic issue of ‘Secret Wars #5’ from 2015. This isn’t just for show; it hints at what’s to come.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is Jackman’s first MCU film after the Fox-Disney merger. As it races toward the $1 billion mark, it’s clear we love seeing him in this role. Whether he’ll keep playing Wolverine into his 90s, only time will tell. But for now, it seems Jackman isn’t hanging up those claws anytime soon.
