Is Glen Powell Hinting at a Batman Role in James Gunn’s New DC Universe?

James Gunn has a lot on his plate these days. After he and Peter Safran rebooted the DCEU into the DCU, they revealed a lineup of new projects, including a Batman movie called ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ While we’ve got a lot of details on the new ‘Superman’ movie, including all the major roles being filled and a new Supergirl, who will play Batman is still up in the air.

Glen Powell, Jensen Ackles, and Alan Ritchson are the fan favorites for the role. Lately, Powell’s chances seem to be rising due to a few clues online. Notably, the ‘Anyone but You’ star recently started following James Gunn and Andy Muschietti, who’s directing the upcoming Batman film, on social media.

This might not seem like a big deal, but it gets more interesting when you remember Powell’s past comments. A few months back, he said he wasn’t into the idea of Oscar-bait or superhero movies, especially not with the MCU. But Batman? That’s a different story. He mentioned he’s always been a Batman fan and would love to bring a unique take to the character, one that might remind you more of Michael Keaton’s style.

Interestingly, Powell has a connection to the Batman universe already; he played a small role in ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ where his character meets a grim end at the hands of Bane.

As we wait to see who will be the next Batman in the DCU, Powell’s recent moves and past remarks make him a strong contender. It’s going to be exciting to see who ends up donning the cape and cowl in this new chapter of the DC universe.
