Joe Locke Reveals His Character is Gay in Disney+’s ‘Agatha All Along’
Joe Locke is stepping into a new role in the Disney+ series ‘Agatha All Along’, following his breakout in ‘Heartstopper’. At 20 years old, Locke will appear alongside stars like Kathryn Hahn, Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, and others. They’re diving into a spinoff that continues from where ‘WandaVision’ left off.
In ‘Agatha All Along’, Kathryn Hahn returns as Agatha Harkness. Previously seen trapped in Westview as the nosy neighbor Agnes by Wanda (played by Elizabeth Olsen), Agatha now finds herself playing a detective. A mysterious body discovery kick-starts her quest to escape Wanda’s magical clutches and reclaim her powers.
Locke’s character, named Teen, plays a crucial role in freeing Agatha. He convinces her to embark on a journey known as ‘the Witchesโ Road’, gathering a unique group of allies. According to Locke, this leads to an adventure filled with ‘magic, fun, and mystery’. He shared these details in the latest issue of Rolling Stone UK, where he described the series as a ‘dark comedy about witches’, distinct from typical Marvel offerings.
The series promises a blend of humor and horror, exploring various subgenres like ‘WandaVision’ did, but with a darker tone. Locke is excited about introducing a fresh kind of superhero story within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the show, Teen is openly gay. Locke emphasized that Teen’s sexuality is portrayed positively and authentically, much like in ‘Heartstopper’. This approach aims to continue telling heartfelt LGBTQ+ stories within mainstream media.
Locke wears a knitwear and shirt by Lacoste in his promotional shoots, ready to bring this unique character to life on screen. With a mix of established and new faces, ‘Agatha All Along’ is set to be a thrilling addition to the Marvel lineup, showing different sides of what it means to be a hero.
