Jonathan Majors Speaks Out: Ready for an MCU Comeback Despite Challenges
Jonathan Majors is open to returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) even after some setbacks. Recently, it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would replace him in the upcoming Avengers movie, playing Dr. Doom instead of Majors’ character, Kang the Conqueror. This change comes after Majors faced legal issues last December, leading Marvel to cut ties with him the same day.
Despite this, Majors expressed his willingness to reprise his role as Kang if Marvel and the audience want him back. He shared his thoughts, saying, ‘Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang. If that’s what we want, and that’s what Marvel wants then let’s roll. Hell yeah.’
Comparisons are being drawn between Majors’ situation and Downeyโs past troubles, which saw him make a significant comeback in Hollywood. When asked about Downey, Majors responded positively, acknowledging the patience and love Downey received, which allowed him to revive his career through Marvel. However, Majors hinted at a bit of disappointment about not receiving similar support from the studio.
Majors admitted feeling ‘heartbroken’ about being replaced by Downey, but he praised Dr. Doom as a ‘wicked’ character. His love for Kang remains strong, and he seems hopeful about returning to complete his character’s storyline.
Marvel’s decision comes after Majors was a major presence in the MCU, originally set to be the leading antagonist in the Multiverse Saga. His involvement was cut short, reducing his appearances to ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and two seasons of ‘Loki.’
Now, with the industry buzzing about Downey’s return as Dr. Doom, Majors is trying to navigate his way back, aiming to reclaim some of the success he had before his legal issues. While the future remains uncertain, Majors’ enthusiasm for his character and the MCU hasn’t waned.
As we look ahead, it’s unclear whether Marvel will extend an invitation to Majors to return. His situation contrasts with Downey’s past, as Downey had years between his legal troubles and his Marvel debut, whereas Majors’ issues are more recent. Despite these challenges, Majors is committed to reviving his career and possibly rejoining the MCU. It’s a waiting game to see if Marvel and the fans will call him back to finish what he started.
