What’s Next for Bo-Katan? Katee Sackhoff Teases Her Role in the Upcoming Star Wars Film

Katee Sackhoff has been a key figure in the Star Wars universe, especially known for her portrayal of Bo-Katan Kryze in ‘The Mandalorian.’ Introduced first in the show’s third episode of season two, titled ‘The Heiress,’ her character has become crucial, working alongside Din Djarin to achieve significant goals like reclaiming the Darksaber, defeating Moff Gideon, and ensuring Grogu’s safety.

As for the upcoming movie titled ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu,’ Sackhoff kept quiet about her involvement when questioned during a recent interview with ComicBook. She was discussing her part in DC’s new ‘Watchmen’ animated film at the time. Sackhoff emphasized how tight security is regarding information on future Lucasfilm projects. She humorously noted, ‘If I knew anything, I wouldn’t tell you, and if I did tell you, I’d probably be in big trouble.’

Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Dave Filoni, ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ marks the first Star Wars movie to grace the big screen since 2019’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.’ It would be a big surprise if Bo-Katan doesn’t make an appearance, given her prominence as a Mandalorian.

Lucasfilm stirred up excitement at D23 2024 by dropping the first trailer for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu.’ It opened with iconic moments from the Disney+ series, including Grogu’s memorable first encounters. The trailer showed Mando, declaring his new selective approach to bounty hunting now that he’s with Grogu.

An action-packed sequence followed, featuring Snow Troopers and a live-action introduction of Zeb in a New Republic uniform, navigating a ship. The preview showcased intense scenes like Mando and Grogu navigating an AT-ST through snowy, rocky terrains, believed to be Hoth, and then slipping under the massive legs of AT-ATs.

We’re all buzzing with anticipation for the film set to release in theaters on May 22, 2026. It’s clear that ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ is building on the success of Disney+’s flagship series, bringing beloved characters back into the limelight. The glimpse offered at D23 only adds to the excitement, promising more thrilling adventures and heartwarming moments between the iconic duo.
