Back in 2021, when Colbert asked Reeves about any past role he’d love to revisit, Reeves enthusiastically chose John Constantine, the character from the DC supernatural thriller. Furthermore, Akiva Goldsman confirmed to Deadline that he is indeed writing the script for the sequel, ensuring that the project is in experienced hands.
Director Francis Lawrence also added to the buzz in an interview with THR, stating that the team is likely to reconvene after Thanksgiving to delve deeper into the project, which suggests that things are moving along nicely. Collider brought another intriguing tidbit to light, with Goldsman discussing various imaginative ideas for the sequel, including one where Jesus Christ would appear as a character, hinting at the ambitious scope they’re considering for the narrative.
About ‘Constantine 2’, we know the original movie was released in 2005 and featured Reeves as John Constantine, a man gifted with the ability to see the spirits roaming the Earth. Despite his powers, Constantine is burdened by his fate to be damned to Hell for eternity unless he can redeem himself through his investigative work in the occult and paranormal realms.
