Kevin Feige Reveals What The “Focus” Of Upcoming MCU Reboot Is
Marvel Studios is gearing up to start shooting their new take on ‘The Fantastic Four’ in the UK very soon. While it might be too early for any sneak peeks or set photos, the excitement could build this weekend at Comic-Con, where the cast might just make an appearance.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, recently shared his thoughts with CinemaBlend about the upcoming movie. He praised director Matt Shakman for his skills with visual effects, stressing the importance of not just cool-looking powers but also strong character development. According to Feige, once the cast was finalized, most of the creative work was considered done. The focus is very much on the family dynamics that define the team.
This reboot sets itself in an alternate-reality 1960s, adding a fresh twist to the setting and integrating the team into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Feige hinted that this period setting will feature a unique version of New York City, different from any ’60s we might recognize.
Casting has brought together a mix of familiar and fresh faces. Pedro Pascal will portray Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, will be played by Joseph Quinn, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach takes on the role of Ben Grimm, The Thing. Julia Garner joins as Shalla-Bal, also known as Silver Surfer, bringing even more star power to the ensemble.
Additional cast members include Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne in roles that are still under wraps, with Ralph Ineson stepping into the role of the villainous Galactus.
The script sees contributions from Josh Friedman of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and Cam Squires from ‘WandaVision,’ with a final touch-up by Eric Pearson, known for his work on ‘Black Widow.’
With a release date set for July 25, 2025, expectations are high. The previous Fantastic Four films, directed by Tim Story, were appreciated for their portrayal of the teamโs interpersonal relationships, and it looks like Marvel aims to capture that same essence but with an updated flair. We can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
