Kumail Nanjiani Claimed To Be James Gunn’s Booster Gold

Rumors are swirling that Kumail Nanjiani has been tapped by James Gunn to star as Booster Gold in the DC Universe. This buzz stems from two separate reports by Nexus Point News and Daniel RPK, both hinting at Nanjiani’s involvement. Notably, Gunn hasn’t denied these rumors, which only adds to the speculation.

According to Nexus Point News, Nanjiani is already set to play the time-traveling superhero. This follows an earlier scoop by Daniel RPK who mentioned that the role had been filled. Daniel RPK recently confirmed that Nanjiani is indeed slated to portray Booster Gold and mentioned that the series is on the verge of appointing a showrunner.

The creative minds behind the project are reportedly Danny McBride, John Carcieri, and Jeff Fradley, known for their work on the HBO Max series ‘The Righteous Gemstones’. McBride’s diverse portfolio also includes writing credits for ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ and the latest ‘Halloween’ movies, along with ‘Vice Principals’ and ‘Eastbound & Down’.

Kumail Nanjiani, known for his role as Kingo in ‘Marvel’s Eternals’ and his appearances in ‘Silicon Valley’ and ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’, has yet to comment on these claims directly. When Gunn was questioned about the rumor, particularly about the series’ filming schedule which is rumored to start in July, he clarified that although work on ‘Booster Gold’ is ongoing, filming is not imminent and dismissed the report as ‘completely false’.

The ‘Booster Gold’ series, first introduced in James Gunn’s January 2023 announcement for the DCU, is set to feature a character from the future who uses advanced technology to masquerade as a superhero in today’s world. Gunn himself described the show as a narrative about a ‘loser from the future’ who aims to win over the present day’s public by feigning heroism, encapsulating the essence of imposter syndrome within the superhero genre.

As I await more official confirmations, the anticipation builds among us about seeing how Nanjiani might bring Booster Gold to life on screen.
