Leslye Headland Has Heard ‘Nothing’ About ‘The Acolyte’ Season 2

Leslye Headland, the showrunner for ‘The Acolyte’, has confirmed she hasn’t received any updates about a potential second season. In a recent interaction with EW.com, Headland symbolized the lack of news with a gesture of zero. “Nothing,” she says. She also mentioned that she isn’t currently working on another season.

Comparisons have been drawn between ‘The Acolyte’ and other Star Wars series like ‘Ahsoka’ and ‘Andor’. Notably, ‘Ahsoka’ received a second season renewal despite costing significantly less than ‘The Acolyte’. ‘Ahsoka’ was produced with a budget of around $100 million, while ‘The Acolyte’ soared to at least $187.5 million. This financial disparity is significant considering ‘Ahsoka’ enjoys double the viewership of ‘The Acolyte’.

Furthermore, ratings reveal a stark difference in viewer preferences. While ‘Ahsoka’ pulls in twice the audience numbers, ‘The Acolyte’ struggles with lower engagement. It’s reported that 75% of those who watched ‘The Mandalorian’ skipped ‘The Acolyte’, leading to its disappearance from Nielsen charts.

Adding to its woes, ‘The Acolyte’ holds the lowest audience score among Star Wars titles on Rotten Tomatoes. This has sparked discussions about its worthiness of a second season, with many arguing that the series may be too expensive to continue given its performance.

‘The Acolyte’ not only struggled with viewership and costs but also couldn’t keep up with the comparative success of series like ‘Andor’, which benefits from the involvement of Tony Gilroy. This scenario paints a grim picture for the future of ‘The Acolyte’, suggesting that without significant improvements or cost adjustments, a second season remains unlikely.
