Marvel Studios has been stirring up plenty of excitement with its new releases and announcements. They’ve just come off a big win with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ in 2024, which is closing in on making a billion dollars. There’s been a lot of buzz around recent events like San Diego Comic-Con and D23 where they dropped some big news.

One of the biggest shocks was hearing that Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He won’t be playing Tony Stark this time. Instead, he’s set to take on the role of Doctor Doom. This is a big deal because it’s been five years since ‘Avengers: Endgame’ came out. But not all news from Marvel is being well-received.

We also got a sneak peek at some upcoming projects like ‘Thunderbolts’, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, and a Disney+ series called ‘Agatha All Along’. And let’s not forget, the Disney+ series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ wrapped up filming for its first season. It’s set to release in March 2025 and they’re already working on a second season. The cast brings back familiar faces like Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, and others including Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal.

At D23, they revealed some new footage that showed a surprising return of a character, Yusuf Khan, from ‘Ms. Marvel’. Mohan Kapur plays him, and he’s also known for his Hindi dubs of several Marvel films including ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. But his return is causing a stir, and not for good reasons.

Last year, some serious accusations came out against Kapur. A woman claimed he had groomed and harassed her since she was 14. She said Kapur sent her inappropriate images when she was just 15 and continued to harass her even after she forgave him initially. These accusations haven’t gone away, and people are questioning why he’s still part of Marvel.

We’re wondering why Disney fired other actors over less serious issues but seems to be keeping Kapur around. People on social media are not happy. Some of us think Marvel should have recast his role, especially with the accusations hanging over him. It’s a tough situation.

In comparison, Jonathan Majors, who played Kang, was let go after he was found guilty of assault and harassment. It’s hard to understand the inconsistency here. Marvel even changed the whole storyline of an upcoming Avengers movie because of that situation.

It’s a bit unsettling to see different standards applied to different actors. We’re left waiting to see how big a role Yusuf Khan will play in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, but it’s odd that this casting choice was announced despite the ongoing controversy. It raises a lot of questions about what’s important to Marvel and Disney when it comes to their casting decisions.
