Marvel Fans Upset That Beau DeMayo Won’t Return for ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 3
Marvel Studios made headlines with ‘X-Men ’97’, a follow-up to the beloved ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’. The show received praise for its engaging plot and well-developed characters. Beau DeMayo, who developed the series, is no longer involved with the project as Marvel Studios dismissed him before the show’s premiere.
Despite DeMayo’s departure, the anticipation for the second season is high, as he completed his work on it. However, the recent news about the third season has left many of us disappointed. Matthew Chauncey, known for his work on ‘What If…?’ and ‘Ms. Marvel’, has been brought in to write the next season alongside director Jake Castorena. This update came from Deadline, and it’s stirring up a lot of feelings among us.
DeMayo was praised for his storytelling in ‘X-Men ’97’, which stayed true to the spirit of the original series. His narrative style and attention to the portrayal of mutants were particularly commended. Despite creating what many consider one of Marvel’s finest projects, he was let go for reasons that remain unclear. There are rumors that he was difficult to work with, as mentioned on Reddit and reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
We hoped that Marvel would reconsider and involve him in some way with season 3, especially after the success of the first season. But with this latest update, it seems there’s no chance for DeMayo to return to the Marvel Universe.
This decision has dampened the excitement for the future seasons of ‘X-Men ’97’, which can be streamed on Disney+. The show had a strong start, and it’s unsettling to see how behind-the-scenes changes might affect it going forward.
We’ll just have to wait and see how these changes influence our beloved series. But right now, it feels like a letdown not having DeMayo on board for the future.
