MCU Actor Seeks Recasting as Doctor Doom Following Phase 5 Demise

Ben Mendelsohn, known for his role as Talos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has expressed a strong desire to take on the role of Doctor Doom. In an interview with GQ, after the death of his character Talos at the hands of Gravik in ‘Secret Invasion,’ Mendelsohn said he’d give anything to play this iconic villain. He believes Doctor Doom is a fantastic Marvel character that hasn’t been fully explored yet.

The potential for Doctor Doom to appear in the MCU is growing. Reports suggest he might be introduced in the 2025 ‘Fantastic Four’ movie. Even though Galactus is rumored to be the main villain, Doom might still show up. If he doesn’t appear in ‘Fantastic Four,’ there’s a good chance he could make an entrance in the upcoming ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ or ‘Secret Wars.’

Mendelsohn playing Doctor Doom could work well because the villain often wears a mask, which would make it easier to shift from his previous MCU character. Past ‘Fantastic Four’ films have linked Doctor Doom’s story with the origins of the superhero team. However, the MCU could choose to introduce a fully-formed Doctor Doom, which would fit perfectly with not revealing his true face.

The recasting of actors in different roles isn’t new to Marvel, and Mendelsohnโ€™s previous role as Talos, which involved him often appearing in human form, might not hinder his chances. We might just see him become the menacing Doctor Doom, as Marvel has previously shifted actors around without much explanation.

So, the idea of Ben Mendelsohn stepping into the shoes of Doctor Doom is not only exciting but also quite plausible within the MCU’s evolving narrative landscape. Who knows, his wish might just become reality, adding another layer to the rich tapestry of Marvel’s cinematic universe.
