Mike Colter Reveals He Would Love to Return as Luke Cage in The MCU
Mike Colter, known for his role as Luke Cage, recently shared his thoughts on what it would take for him to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Colter, who now stars in the hit series Evil, played the bulletproof hero in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, his own show Luke Cage, and the crossover series The Defenders. Despite enjoying his time as Luke Cage, Colter is clear that his current schedule with Evil, which premieres its fourth and final season on May 23, is his priority.
Colter mentioned that he would consider returning as Luke Cage if it doesn’t interfere with his work on Evil. He emphasized the importance of a good script and a compelling idea. He added that he doesn’t dwell on the past or stay up at night thinking about the role, but he remains open to discussions if an opportunity arises.
Marvel Studios has already revived several characters from the Netflix Marvel series. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin returned in Hawkeye. Both characters are set to appear in the new series Daredevil: Born Again. While Colter hasn’t had the same revival, he is content with his time as Luke Cage and is open to seeing another actor take on the role.
Colter reflected on his portrayal of Luke Cage, saying he doesn’t actively think about potential opportunities for the character. He stays in shape but considers his time as the Harlem hero as part of his past. He expressed happiness at the thought of someone else taking on the mantle, believing that the character will live on in various forms for years to come. He feels honored to have been a part of the character’s legacy and is ready to pass the torch if needed.
