According to sources from Reuters, investigators recently raided the Netflix offices in Paris, France, and its European headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The raids are part of an ongoing preliminary investigation into allegations of tax fraud involving the U.S. streaming giant.

These actions were confirmed by a French judicial source and were first brought to light by the French newspaper Marianne.

The French unit known as the PNF, which handles serious financial crimes, initiated the investigation back in November 2022.

The Dutch authorities coordinated with the French team to carry out simultaneous searches. Details of the allegations leading to these investigations have not been disclosed.

It is important to note that such preliminary investigations by the PNF do not necessarily lead to criminal charges or a trial. This phase is merely the beginning of examining the claims.

This isn’t the first time Netflix has faced tax issues in Europe. In 2022, they settled a tax dispute in Italy with a payment of 55.8 million euros.

Netflix, which opened its Paris office in 2020 near the Opera Garnier, operates mostly by producing original content through third-party contractors.

Responses from Netflix’s representatives in both France and the Netherlands were not immediately available.

The Dutch prosecutor’s office for financial crime has deferred comments back to the PNF.

The French source mentioned that cooperation between French and Dutch authorities has been active for several months regarding this case.
