Season 4 of ‘The Boys’ premiered on June 13, 2024, launching with three episodes. Although initial reactions were mixed, the season quickly gained traction and is now enjoying high ratings. This has sparked a lot of excitement among viewers, especially with the introduction of new characters such as Firecracker and Sister Sage.

Firecracker is portrayed by Valorie Curry and emerges as a key antagonist this season. In a revealing interview with Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke disclosed that the character is inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial political figure known for her extreme views. This inspiration reflects the show’s knack for amplifying real-world politics into its dramatic narrative.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, often referred to as MTG, is a far-right politician serving as the U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, she’s identified as a Christian nationalist and staunch Donald Trump supporter. Her controversial statements have included promoting conspiracy theories such as QAnon and Pizzagate, making antisemitic remarks, and endorsing harmful narratives about mass shootings and 9/11. MTG has also been noted for her extreme rhetoric against Democratic politicians and comparisons of COVID-19 safety measures to historical atrocities.

Kripke’s creation of Firecracker reflects a similar kind of alarm and extremism, mirroring the boldness of characters like Homelander but with a distinctively new villainous flare.

Sister Sage, on the other hand, brings a fresh dynamic to the group known as the Seven. Described as incredibly smart, she presents a unique challenge in writing because she operates on a level of intelligence that surpasses her peersโ€”so much so that despite her potential to save humanity, she remains underestimated and overlooked. This character, brought to life by Susan, offers a poignant critique on societal ignorance and bias.

These new additions to the cast serve to deepen the thematic elements of ‘The Boys,’ blending sharp social commentary with the outrageous antics the show is famous for. As we dive deeper into the season, these characters are sure to shake things up, keeping us on the edge of our seats.
