New Marvel Theory: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Crossover with ‘The Marvels’

Deadpool & Wolverine are coming at the perfect time. Even though Marvel’s schedule got messed up because of the strikes, this Ryan Reynolds movie could bring the MCU back to greatness after a tough 2023.

While ‘The Marvels’ was solid and got more love once it hit streaming, it still went down as the worst-performing MCU movie ever. This has made a third Captain Marvel movie seem unlikely, and it looked like this part of the MCU might be ignored from now on.

But a key moment in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has us thinking differently. There’s a scene where they jump into a mystical portal. We don’t know who made the portal or where it leads, but there’s a theory that it takes them to a universe we’ve seen before.

At the end of ‘The Marvels,’ Monica Rambeau got sent to another universe. In this universe, her mom, Maria Rambeau (Binary), is friends with the X-Men. We even saw Kelsey Grammer return as Beast. Usually, it takes forever for Marvel’s post-credits scenes to mean anything, but this time Deadpool 3 could pick up the story from ‘The Marvels’ pretty quickly.

Even if Monica doesn’t show up, going back to this universe lets Deadpool and Wolverine meet X-Men characters from the old Fox movies. This is cool because Deadpool comes from a different timeline, and Wolverine’s universe had all the X-Men dead. There could be an incursion that mixes this universe with the main MCU one, which could be how we get mutants in the MCU.

It would be great for a more bro-y MCU movie to tie in with the Captain Marvel movies. Despite some fans not liking Captain Marvel, Wade Wilson wouldn’t support that kind of hate. They were even lovers in one comic timeline.

So, don’t skip ‘The Marvels’ in your MCU marathon before Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26.
