New Sci-Fi Horror Film Smashes 22 Million Views, Claims Netflix’s Top Spot

Netflix has a new leader in its roster with the sci-fi horror film ‘Time Cut,’ which has quickly climbed to the #1 spot.

The movie, released on October 30, features Madison Bailey from ‘Outer Banks’ as Lucy, a high schooler with a knack for inventing.

The plot thickens when Lucy accidentally travels back to 2003 and attempts to prevent her older sister Summer, portrayed by Antonia Gentry of ‘Ginny & Georgia,’ from falling victim to a masked serial killer.

In just a week, ‘Time Cut’ has amassed over 22 million views, surpassing the viewership of other recent releases like Sam Raimi’s ‘Don’t Move’ and the Marvel sequel ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage.’ It’s safe to say that Netflix subscribers are flocking to see what the buzz is all about.

Critics, however, haven’t been as kind. The film received a low 26% rating from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes.

Decider criticized the film for its lack of humor and depth, saying that it features “period-specific references sans humor, heavy drama without depth, and characters without much going on in their interior lives.”

Bloody Disgusting suggested that the genre might be wearing out its welcome, noting, “This may be proof that itโ€™s time to move on from time travel-themed slashers.”

Audience reactions have been tepid as well, with a disappointing 33% score. Comments from viewers have pointed out flaws, such as the scene where Lucy, knowing the exact time and place of the murder, misses the chance to save her sister because she gets distracted trying on clothes.
