The talented star of the hit series ‘Bridgerton’ recently shared her frustrations regarding the constant public discourse about her physical appearance. During a detailed interview the actress explained that she finds the obsession with her weight to be incredibly tedious and reductive. She noted that while she spent months working tirelessly on her craft and filming intense scenes the conversation often shifts away from her acting. This focus on her silhouette rather than her performance is something she described as exceptionally boring.

While filming the latest season of the popular period drama the performer revealed she was actually at a very active stage in her fitness journey. She explained that she had been exercising frequently and had reached a size ten even fitting into corsets that were a size eight. Despite this she was frequently categorized by the media and fans as a plus size figure. This label felt inaccurate and strange to her especially considering she is technically smaller than the average woman in her home country.

The actress also recalled a particularly uncomfortable encounter with a fan in a public restroom who praised her specifically for her body type. She admitted that moments like these make her feel incredibly uneasy and wishing to escape the situation entirely. To her the idea that her value is tied to her weight is an insulting concept that she refuses to embrace. She questioned why her talent should be conditional on her remaining a specific size for the audience.

In a bold move to reclaim her narrative the star mentioned that she has no desire to be the face of the body positivity movement. She explained that this is not a passion of hers and she prefers to be seen simply as an actor doing her job. Growing up she never analyzed the bodies of the actors she watched on screen and she wishes the same courtesy was extended to her. Her main goal remains focusing on the quality of her work and the stories she helps bring to life.

By choosing to include nude scenes in ‘Bridgerton’ she intended to send a clear message to those who feel entitled to comment on her looks. She described the decision as an empowering way to take control of her own image and silence the critics. For her the most important thing is the dedication she puts into her roles and the time she spends away from her family to create art. She hopes that eventually the industry and the public will stop treating a woman’s body as a topic for open debate.
