Rogue Returns to the Savage Land with a Fresh Series This January!

Get ready for some steamy jungle drama this January with Marvel Comics’ Rogue: The Savage Land. The series is set to reignite the fiery romance between Rogue and Magneto, throwing back to some classic comic book moments. We can’t wait to see what new twists are in store for us with this one!

Written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by the talented newcomer Zulema Lavina, this limited series will consist of five issues that promise a mix of action, romance, and survival. Tim Seeley is known for his work on Venom War: Wolverine, and Zulema Lavina, fresh from her success at the Marvel Art Atelier, will make her Marvel Comics debut here.

The story revisits memorable events from Uncanny X-Men #269 and #274-275. For those who might not recall, this was when Rogue, without her powers, found herself in the Savage Land—a mysterious, prehistoric locale where dinosaurs still roam. Here, her unexpected yet captivating relationship with Magneto first blossomed. Fans of the original comics will remember Rogue’s iconic look from this period too!

The first issue sees Rogue stripped of her mutant abilities and needing to prove her mettle like never before. As war looms in the Savage Land, Rogue will need to navigate through dangers including dinosaurs, local mutates, and Magneto himself.

Tim Seeley shared his excitement about the project, saying, ‘I’m tapping into my love for 80s X-Men, the artwork of Jim Lee, and of course, dinosaurs. Working with Zulema Lavina, we plan to bring a fresh take while staying true to the epic and somewhat risqué tale of Rogue, alongside unlikely allies like Magneto and Ka-Zar.’

Zulema Lavina expressed her thrill over the project, noting her delight in teaming up again with Seeley. She hopes we’ll enjoy the adventure as much as she’s enjoying illustrating it.

We’re also treated to some stunning artwork on the covers for the first issue. Kaare Andrews, alongside artists Russell Dauterman and Nick Bradshaw, has provided some eye-catching designs that are sure to draw fans old and new.

Rogue’s character traits of empathy and determination shine through in this setting, adding depth to the already thrilling plot. The Savage Land makes a perfect backdrop, filled with wild and unexpected elements that are sure to keep us on the edge of our seats.
