Rumors Explain Why Sentry Doesn’t Just Destroy Thunderbolts

‘Thunderbolts*’ is set to hit theaters in 2025, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting addition to Marvel’s lineup. It might not be as highly awaited as the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot or ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ but it’s definitely creating some buzz.

The film introduces a team similar to DC’s Suicide Squad and features a new organization led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Members like Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ava Starr, John Walker, and Taskmaster are part of this group. These characters are generally less powerful, especially compared to the incredibly strong Sentry.

Lewis Pullman plays Sentry, a character known for his overwhelming power in the comics. This casting choice has raised some eyebrows because it seems like a mismatch when you pit him against less powerful characters.

Pullman once mentioned Sentry’s power could involve shape-shifting, but it seems like he was confused and meant molecular manipulation. In a chat about superpowers, he shared his personal wish for the ability to shape-shift to access different powers, saying, ‘Sentry, sounds kind of snaky shape-shifty vibe.’

So, why isn’t Sentry just wiping out the Thunderbolts with his powers? According to Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider, Sentry will follow a ‘no kill’ rule in the film. This means that, while he’s powerful, he won’t be using his abilities to just obliterate the Thunderbolts. It might seem like a simple fix, but it helps balance the scales a bit, ensuring the movie doesn’t end too quickly with Sentry overpowering everyone.

It’s interesting to see how they plan to keep the film engaging with such a powerful character in play. We’ll have to wait and see how this all pans out when the movie releases.
