Rumors Reveal Actors Have Been Chosen for Marvel’s Upcoming ‘NOVA’ Series
There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Marvel’s NOVA series, with recent reports suggesting that Xolo Maridueña and Tanner Gillman have been cast in leading roles. While Marvel has yet to confirm this, it’s not hard to see why these names are causing excitement. M
aridueña has become a household name after starring in Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai, making him a prime candidate for Marvel’s latest venture into their cosmic universe. Meanwhile, Sabir Pirzada, known for his work on Moon Knight, is reportedly set to write the series.
But why is NOVA such a big deal? For those unfamiliar, Nova is one of Marvel’s most beloved cosmic characters. The character has had two main versions in the comics: Richard Rider, the original Nova, and Sam Alexander, a younger, more modern take on the hero. Nova is part of the Nova Corps, an intergalactic police force, and both Rider and Alexander have carried the title of Nova, becoming powerful heroes in their own right.

Pirzada’s involvement hints that NOVA could have a more serious or intense tone, much like Moon Knight. Pirzada’s work on Moon Knight gave us a taste of Marvel’s ability to tackle darker storylines, so it’s possible we could see the same for NOVA, exploring the responsibilities and pressures that come with wielding such immense power.
Adding to the excitement is the possibility of the show tying into larger MCU cosmic events. Nova has a deep connection to several key players in the Marvel Universe, including the Guardians of the Galaxy and even Thanos. The Nova Corps was devastated during Thanos’ attack in Avengers: Infinity War, and Richard Rider’s backstory involves being the last surviving member of the Nova Corps, which could provide a direct link to the events of the Infinity Saga.
At this point, we’re still waiting for official confirmation, but if these rumors are true, NOVA could be another step in Marvel’s plan to expand the cosmic side of their universe.
